Title | Letter from William Radcliffe Birt, Kew Observatory to Edward Sabine |
Date | 16 March 1850 |
Description | Birt thanks Sabine for his letter and the acknowledgement that the remarks regarding the interference of the magnetical with the electrical observations did not originate with Birt.
Discussion on Birt not resuming the electrical observations. Birt clarifies that any other observations he took at the Kew Observatory were at the request of Mr [Francis] Ronalds and not under his direction. Birt discusses his official duties and remarks the impossibility to carry out any thing efficiently in electricity or meteorology under the direction of Mr Ronalds. Birt notes that he should be able to furnish minor instruments to render the observations more complete at his own expense, with the permission of the [Kew] Committee. |
