Title | Letter from Joseph David Everett, 105 Douglas Street, Glasgow to Edward Sabine |
Date | 17 June 1865 |
Description | Everett is aware that after the Royal Society’s recommendation the government intends to establish six meteorological stations with ‘skilled’ observers. Everett expresses his interest in applying for one of these posts and asks Sabine to send further information when available, regarding the salary and requirements that would better inform him to apply or not. Everett refers to his experience as former secretary of the Meteorological Society of Scotland, conducting regular electrical and meteorological observations at Kings College, Nova Scotia, and observation of underground temperature at Edinburgh Observatory and Royal Observatory Greenwich. |
