Title | Letter from [David Douglas], Mission of St John Alta, California to Joseph Sabine |
Date | 4 February 1831 |
Description | [Douglas] is sending Sabine a description of a new species of Pinus which they found four years ago but had lost on their return northward. Asks Sabine if it would be possible to include the description in the transactions of the Horticulturalist Society, and for Sabine to look over the ‘genus’ and compare the specimen’s cone and leaves before the description is sent to print. Discussion on naming the species of Pinus, [Douglas] recommends Pinus sabinii [possibly referring to Pinus sabiniana] and hopes Sabine will not be offended. Reference to boxes of ‘fine’ seeds sent to England. |
