Description | Reference to the excitement of receiving the Duke of Edinburgh, and as a member of the government and the commission appointed to manage HRH, Verdon expresses the plethora of things he has to do.
Remarks on the success of the telescope [the great Melbourne telescope]. Verdon suggests Mr [Thomas] Grubb’s assistant should come to Australia with the instrument and help with its installation. Mr [Robert Lewis] Ellery will send a paper regarding the work of the ‘magnetograph’. Discussion regarding mechanical and photographic difficulties.
Verdon thanks Sabine for the offer to put his name to the Athenaeum club.
Verdon regretfully informs that Ellery has suffering from ? the effects of their work and has given himself an absence of leave for a year on full pay. |
