Description | [This copy of a letter was sent to Dr Henry Bence Jones].
Update regarding Dr [John] Welsh’s health. Jones notes there is a ‘hoarseness or huskiness with a rattling sound’ when Welsh speaks, and he suffers from night perspirations. Fox notes Welsh’s is a ‘peculiar case’ as the physical examination does not suggest tubercle, however, the ‘phthisical countenance and physique’ suggest otherwise. Reference to examining the ‘expectoration under the microscope’ and appearance of the tongue. Fox suggests the possibility of Welsh suffering from tubercles ‘through all the large glands’. Fox asks Jones’s views regarding this and describes the remedy Welsh is currently taking. Refers to Welsh’s cough and pulse rate. |
