Commencing with acknowledgement of Grand Duke Frederick I of Baden: 'Quod Bonum Felix Faustumque Sit Sub Auspiciis Augustissimi et potentisssimi principis ac domini domini Friderici magni ducis badarum ducis zaringiae...' [May it be good, happy, and prosperous under the auspices of the most august and most powerful Prince and Lord, Lord Frederick the Great, Duke of Badia, Duke of Tsargrad...] and continuing with 'Rectoris academiae magnificentissimi protectore academiiae magnificico viro amplissimo illustrissimo Hermanno Kopp' [The Rector of the most magnificent academy, the protector of the academy, the magnificent man, the most extensive and illustrious, Hermann Kopp].

Inscribed in ink: 'To Harry with kind regards of his friend Tom'. Inscribed verso: 'T.E. Thorpe Ph.D. &c. Copy Diploma Heidelberg'.
