Commencing: 'Whereas His late Majesty King Charles the Second, by His Letters Patent...' and continuing 'Now I James West Esquire, at this time President of the Royal Society, by virtue of the Powers and Authorities aforesaid, do by these presents nominate and appoint Sir John Pringle Bart., being one of the present Council of the said Royal Society, my Deputy in the said office of President...'
Signed 'J. West President.' and sealed by him. Sealed and delivered in the presence of John Robertson. Seal and signature torn, the wax seal missing. With an embossed stamp for two shillings and sixpence. |
