Description | Bond of fifty pounds against the loan of manuscripts from the Royal Society Library.
Commencing: 'Know all Men these Presents that I the Revd. Samuel Horsley of Brianstone Street in the parish of St. Mary le Bone Doctor of Law am held and firmly bound to the President Council and Fellows of the Royal Society of London for improving Natural Knowledge in the sum of fifty Pounds of lawful money...' and continuing; 'Whereas the said Samuel Horsley being a Fellow of the said Society did at a meeting of the said Society on Thursday the eleventh day of January last past obtain leave of the said Society to have the Loan of a certain manuscript letters Book (in the Library of the said Society ), marked 'N' and the same has been delivered to him this day...'
Signed and sealed by Samuel Horsley. Witnessed by John Robertson and with an embossed stamp for five shillings. With pencilled corrections.
