| Title | Copy letter from [George Gabriel] Stokes, Secretary of the Royal Society; to J. A. Grahame Esq., Chief Commissioner [Hudson's Bay Company] |
| Recipient | Grahame; James Allan (1825-1905); British trader and commissioner |
| Date | 11 May 1882 |
| Description | Informs that the Circumpolar Expedition will expect to leave Fort Rae [Behchoko`] on Lake Slave in September 1883 and requests for out of season transportation. Suggests a small vessel or a large birch canoe, as a large vessel may not be able to make the journey, to transport the expedition to a steamer on Lake Winnipeg or to Mathey Postage. Asks for allowances for the party as their supplies would have likely run out by then. |
