Title | Copy letter from [Alfred Bray Kempe], 10 Porchester Square, Hyde Park, to Sir William Huggins |
Creator | Kempe; Sir; Alfred Bray (1849-1922) |
Date | 4 December 1901 |
Description | Kempe and [Sir Michael] Foster agree that Huggins should write a joint letter with Sir Clements Markham to [George Robert Milne] Murray. The letter should approve of his decision to return, as 'if he had gone on to Port Lyttleton he would have overstayed his leave by two months'. The letter should also agree that specimens collected on the voyage should be worked on at the British Museum under Murray's supervision, but duplicate botanical specimens should be offered to the Royal Gardens at Kew.
Foster believes there should only be one public dinner in the summer, when ministers and other influential people could attend. 'He does not think the King should be asked to this but that probably the Prince of Wales should'. |
