Title | Copy letter from A B [Alfred Bray] Kempe, 10 Porchester Square, Hyde Park, to [Sir William Huggins] the President [of the Royal Society] |
Creator | Kempe; Sir; Alfred Bray (1849-1922) |
Date | 8 April 1901 |
Description | [Sir Michael] Foster has agreed that they should meet the three Royal Geographical Society members before consulting the Fellows of the Royal Society who are on the Joint Committee [for the National Antarctic Expedition]. Foster has asked Kempe to arrange the meeting but is traveling to Paris at the beginning of next week. Asks when he is free this week so that Kempe can arrange the meeting with Sir Clements Markham. Notes that an advance of £10,000 was made by the Treasury a few days ago, but this is controlled by the Finance Committee and not Markham. Regarding Markham's complaints about [John Walter] Gregory, he should have brought them before the Joint Committee. |
