Creator | Markham; Sir; Clements Robert (1830-1916); President of the Royal Geographical Society |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish physicist |
Date | 24 April 1903 |
Description | Stating the importance of getting a reply from the Government as soon as possible, so that collecting funds can begin if they refuse. Further letters from Captain [Robert Falcon] Scott will not change the fact that the 'Discovery' will be wintering a second time, with provisions that will only last to January. Seeking a grant from the Government for £6,000 this year and £6,000 the next. 'I assure you that the delay will injure my prospects of raising the required funds in case of a refusal fom the Government'. Asks the Committee to reconsider its views on the matter. |
