16. The Committee has been reconstituted as an enlarged Joint Committee, with twelve representitives each from the Royal Society and Royal Geographical Society. The Royal Society's representitives are: The President; Mr A B Kempe, Treasurer; Sir Michael Foster, Secretary; Professor A W Rucker, Secretaries; Mr A [Alexander] Buchan; Captain E W [Ettrick William] Creak; Sir John Evans; Sir Archibald Geikie; Professor [William Abbott] Herdman; Sir Joseph Hooker; Sir John Murray; Mr P L Sclater; Mr J Y [John Young] Buchanan. The Royal Geographical Society's representitives are: Sir Clements Markham, President; Major [Leonard] Darwin, Secretary; Mr Hughes, Secretary; Mr [Edward Lygon] Somers Cocks, Treasurer; Sir Anthony Hoskins; Sir Leopold McClintock; Sir Vesey Hamilton; Vice-Admiral Markham; Rear-Admiral Aldrich; Captain A M Field, Royal Navy; Sir Richard Strachey; Dr W T Blanford; Vice-Admiral Sir G Nares.

17. Resolved that Sir Clements Markham be appointed Honorary Secretary to the Committee, and that a clerk be engaged to assist with the Committee and Expedition business, at no more than two guineas a week.

18. Agreed that the Treasurers of the Fund have power to draw cheques up to £50, in sums not exceeding £10. Larger amounts must be authorised by the Committee.

19. Sir Michael Foster offered a room at Royal Society for use by the Committee, which was accepted.

20. Resolved that August 1901 will be the provisional date of the despatch of the Expedition.

21. Agreed that the selection of the Expedition Commander be deferred until after September.

22. Resolved that Sub-Committees are apointed to consider the requirements of the Expedition. On the Ship Subcommittee: Sir L McClintock; Admiral Aldrich; Captain Creak RN; Captain Field RN; Sir R V Hamilton; Sir A Hoskins; Admiral Markham; Sir John Murray; Sir G Nares. On the Oceanography Subcommittee: Sir John Murray; Admiral Aldrich; Mr J Y Buchanan; Captain Field; Sir G Nares; Admiral Sir W Wharton. On the Magnetism Subcommittee: Captain Creak; Dr Chee; Professor Rucker; Professor Schuster. On the Meteorology Subcommittee: Sir R Strachey; Mr A Buchan; Mr J Y Buchanan; Mr R H Scott; Mr Shaw. On the Geology and Physical Geography Subcommittee: Dr Blanford; Sir J Evans; Sir A Geikie; Professor Judd. On the Biology Subcommittee: Sir Joseph Hooker; Colonel Fielden; Sir M Foster; Professor Herdman; Mr G Murray; Sir John Murray; Dr Sclater; Professor D'Arcy Thompson

23. Resolved that the Science Sub-Committees should make a preliminary report by the end of September about the investigations that the Expedition should conduct in their respective sciences.
