Title | Letter from Leonard Darwin, 12 Egerton Place, to Sir Archibald [Geikie] |
Creator | Darwin; Leonard (1850-1943); British eugenicist; economist; politician |
Recipient | Geikie; Sir; Archibald (1835-1924) |
Date | 6 November 1908 |
Description | Darwin states that the 'Antarctic Affair' was not discussed at the recent [Royal Geographical Society] Council meeting. Sir Clements Markham was not aware that Scott's correspondence was meant to be kept private, and in any case he believes the Presidents of both Societies should be kept informed. The fact that the [Expedition] officers were not consulted about corrections applied to their data is 'most likely to be the subject of comment', and Darwin wishes to be informed if an explanation is given for this. |
