| Description | Thanks Larmor for his letter and notes that he has written to 'J.J.' to the same effect. What they wanted was more money in the hands of the Royal Society for research. The industrial research move is political - 'you can't force the horse to drink where there is little natural appetite'. He thinks that the Royal Society has botched the whole business and should have administered the whole grant. He assumes it has not been consulted in the matter. He thinks they are now a German Society and science will be for the privileged element. 'I trust we are saved from Asquith. But the war is lost'. |
