Title | Letter from A B [Alfred Barnard] Basset, Queen's Hotel, Hastings, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Basset; Alfred Barnard (1854-1930); British mathematician |
Date | 20 February 1929 |
Description | Basset saw in The Times today an announcement of the wedding of one of the daughters of Parker-Smith. His father obtained the equation of Fresnal's wave surface. He asks if Larmor could 'buck up' some young men to obtain the equation of Lord Rayleigh's wave surface. Basset is now too old to do mathematics but the problem is worth considering. He is in Hastings for his health, as he cannot stand the cold. |
