TitleLetter from A [Alfred] Senier, Gurthard House, Galway, to [Joseph] Larmor, Cambridge
CreatorSenier; Alfred (1853-1918); British chemist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date3 January 1909
DescriptionAnderson has shown Senier Larmor's letter to him, regarding the new and sensitive component obtained in the course of Acridine work. It is a step towards a new method of acridine synthesis for Senier, but their work has been interrupted by university and college business. He will send three preparations of the compound by post, which are pale yellow when taken out of the dark, changing to orange in sunlight and returning to their original state in darkness. If Larmor wishes to try experiments with it in Cambridge, Senier would be delighted. Senier thinks he may apply for a patent, as is usual with new compounds, and because of its chemical relations. He gives molecular structure and drawings, but noting that his work is still incomplete.
