| Title | Letter from T [Thomas] Bailey Saunders, The Knoll, Staveley Road, Eastbourne, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Saunders; Thomas Bailey (1860-1928); British critic and translator |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); British theoretical physicist |
| Date | 17 January 1914 |
| Description | Saunders is grateful for Larmor's letter, containing suggestions for persons suitable for the vacancy among the Sladen Trustees created by the death of Tempest Anderson. They have met, but none of the persons seemed right; they have selected some others and he is charged with the duty of relaying to President and Council of the Royal Society that the vacancy has arisen. He asks if it would be proper to recommend two or three suitable people.
In a postscript, Saunders notes that Anderson left half the residue of his estate to the Trustees, around £25,000, bringing the fund up to £45,000. He expressed the wish that subjects would include pathology and therapeutics. |
