TitleLetter from W R [William Ritchie] Sorley, St Giles, Chesterton Lane, Cambridge, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorSorley; William Ritchie (1855-1935); British philosopher
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date25 April 1914
DescriptionSorley has often thought of proposing [Johm Theodore] Merz for an honorary D.Litt, but hesitated due to reasons disconnected with his work. It would not be possible to have him in that year's batch, as all candidates were connected with physiology. Sorley intends to be away in May and could not present his case to Council anyway. It means delay until next year, which is unfortunate due to his age. Merz's fourth and concluding volume is out in December. Sorley suggests that Larmor and Ward write to the Vice-Chancellor on his claims.
