TitleLetter from T E [Thomas Edward] Thorpe, Whinfield, Salcombe, S Devon, to [Joseph] Larmor
CreatorThorpe; Sir Thomas Edward (1845-1925); British chemist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date5 March 1915
DescriptionHe wonders if they can induce Larmor to spend some of his Easter holidays in Salcombe. Thorpe has been working on the Cavendish papers and the chemical parts could go to press at any time, with papers on journeys. Council of the Royal Society will lend spare copies of the Philosophical Transactions papers from which they may be set. Now may not be an appropriate time, however, as the finances of the university and press may be poor at present. If Larmor thinks that delay would help, he would defer coming to London to select the memoirs from the Royal Society. There is no immediate hurry to publish, but he would be glad to get it completed, so he can return the manuscripts to Chatsworth. In a postscript, Thorpe relates that 'Neville is wintering here'.
