| Title | Letter from Albert P [Potter] Wills, Department of Physics, Columbia University, New York, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Wills; Albert Potter (1873-1937); American physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 2 April 1916 |
| Description | Giving thanks for Larmor's letter and expressing pleasure at Larmor's reaction to his transalation of [Max] Planck's lecture. The department at Columbia is being built up and they are hoping to get [Robert Andrews] Millikan from Chicago. The latter part of Larmor's letter was deleted by the censor, and Wills gathered this must be about the war. American sentiment is strongly for England, and many are 'sick of our democratic congress and president'. More are turning to [Theodore] Roosevelt 'as the Moses to lead us out of the wilderness', but his age means his prospects are not bright. Wills concludes with brief news of others. |
