| Title | Letter from T E [Thomas Edward] Thorpe, S Y [Steam Yacht] Cysne II, at Poole, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Thorpe; Sir Thomas Edward (1845-1925); British chemist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 14 July 1908 |
| Description | Thorpe thinks the committee has dealt harshly with [Frank Percy] Burt and [Francis Lawry] Usher's paper ['The relative atomic weights of nitrogen and sulphur'], which is in advance of most student work. The referee was 'querulous, pernickety', and his views were ill-tempered and hyper-critical. It is unlikely that the authors would be content with an abstract in Proceedings. The full paper will probably appear in the 'Geitschrift fur Anorganische Chemie' and chemists will be able to judge from themselves. |
