TitleDraft letter from [Joseph Larmor], St John's College, Cambridge, to Lord Peel
CreatorLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
RecipientPeel; William Robert Wellesley; first Earl Peel (1867-1937); British politician
Date31 December 1917
DescriptionIt has been pointed out to Larmor that the wording of Peel's amendment on Women's University Franchise may be ambiguous and controversial if not altered. He notes the examinations necessary for a degree. Up to now, Girton students have passed one previous examination, but more of the Newnham women students have not; this involves Greek and Latin. Larmor points out the difficulty in including only the final examination in the tripos; if this earlier test was not included it would leave Girton women with a grievance.
