DescriptionPerkin has been on his mind as the best candidate and Macalister would have used his influence to secure it. However he has another appointment which he must attend and he asks Larmor to speak to [James] Dewar or J.J.T. [Joseph John Thomson] about this. Failing Perkin, he is prepared to give his consideration to any candidate these two electors might induce to come forward. They are at liberty to use Macalister's name in support of Perkin.
