| Title | Letter from James Dewar, Royal Institution of Great Britain, London, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Dewar; Sir James (1842-1923); British chemist and physicist |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 25 December 1906 |
| Description | He asked the Secretary of the Royal Society to render a truthful statement and his reply was to consider this simple duty a 'thankless task'. Instead of a paraphrase by Dr. [Joseph Edward] Coates of what Dewar did not say at the Royal Institution, he wished to have inserted what he did say. He believes that his specific statements should be quoted in his own words, wishing no interpolation or simplification of his results. He requested that a specific reference to his charcoal method should be made, just as the author did at the time of the meeting. He encloses extracts read at the meeting. If these insertions and deletions are not made, he would like to know the fact without delay.
With sheets of corrections, commencing: 'Dewar in the lecture mentioned spoke after describing the apparatus made wholly of glass...'. |
