| Title | Letter from F W [Frank Watson] Dyson, Royal Observatory, Greenwich, to [Joseph] Larmor |
| Creator | Dyson; Sir; Frank Watson (1868 - 1939); British astronomer |
| Recipient | Larmor; Sir; Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
| Date | 10 November 1928 |
| Description | Dyson has met with a number of astronomers, including [Herbert Hall] Turner, [Alfred] Fowler, [Edward Arthur] Milne, [Harold] Knox-Shaw, and [Sydney] Chapman, who all feel that a portrait of [Hugh Frank] Newall ought to be added to the Cambridge Observatory. Dyson lists Newall's accomplishments and states 'If I were allowed to form a list of English astronomers I should get a favourable response from 40 or 50 people, as Newall is very much of a persona grata as well as an astronomer'. |
