DescriptionCulverwell notes that he read a pamphlet on calculus of variations by [Ernst] Zermelo, at Larmor's recommendation. He sent a proof expanding on this topic to the London Mathematical Society, which was returned as "unfit for publication". Culverhill recalls a previous time that a similar incident has occurred with his work, this time with regards to the work of [Isaac] Todhunter.
