Creator | Huggins; Margaret Lindsay (1848 - 1915); Née; Murray; wife of William Huggins FRS; Irish-English astronomer; spectroscopist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 23 August 1908 |
Description | Regarding a decision of Larmor's to take the post of Master [at a Cambridge college]. Huggins would like for Larmor to take the post, and does not think Larmor should feel guilty for holding the Mastership and his Professorship simultaneously. She feels that given the fact that 'the men are all too few at present to play great parts in Science our country' she feels that this opportunity is 'Divine' and that he should not hesitate to accept. She elaborates on the positive influence and contribution she feels that Larmor could make. |
