Description | Discussing her husband [William Huggins]. Huggins is keen to express how much Larmor meant to him, as she decribes William as 'very shy by nature, and undemonstrative', although with 'one of the sweetest souls ever sent into this world'. She has put aside a signet ring of William's to give to Larmor. She hopes that Larmor will be President of the Royal Society one day, although feels she may not be here to see it. She has gone to Golders Green to see about the funeral arrangements for William, noting that both her and her husband decided on cremation. She notes that Psalm 36.9, 'In thy light, shall we see light', as 'amazingly suitable as a motto for spectroscopists'.She explains further about these arrangements, and muses about her grief and sorrow, as she has been strongly impacted by the passing of William Huggins. She then discusses his affairs, and her feelings towards the £100 pension she has been granted "for [her] services to Science by collaborating with [William Huggins]". |
