TitleLetter from Margaret Lindsay Huggins, 90 Upper Tulse Hill, S W [South West], to Sir Joseph Larmor
CreatorHuggins; Margaret Lindsay (1848 - 1915); Née; Murray; wife of William Huggins FRS; Irish-English astronomer; spectroscopist
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); British theoretical physicist
Date2 January 1913
DescriptionHuggins expresses her strong gratitude to Larmor for his reminiscences about Sir William Huggins, which have deeply moved her. She is keen to spend time rectifying the errors in other biographies of William Huggins; for example, in the latest volume of the 'Dictionary of National Biography'. She is surprised that in such works, the nearest relatives should not be asked to look through the proofs first. She is delighted that Larmor approves of the William Huggins portrait being moved to the National Portrait Gallery, and notes that another oil portrait will be given to the Royal Astronomical Society. She hopes that Larmor will visit her in her new home, and expresses how important her friends are to her, especially as she has very few relatives, and is not close to them.
