Description | Huggins commences with the news that 'if [William] Ramsay is not deceived, he had got from the Ra emanation the chief line of Nebulium', commenting that '42 years since in the dicovery of these bright lines I pierced the seret of the Nebulae'. He argued with [William James Stewart] Lockyer over the bright line, who called it 'coincident with the edge of the Magnesium band!'. He discusses Mira Ceti, which is now approaching its maxiumum, and a photograph of its spectrum sent from Stoneyhurst which shows no change in its spectrum since 1897.
