TitleLetter from [?] Larmor, 2 Norton Place, Fallowfield, Manchester, to Joseph [Larmor]
RecipientLarmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist
Date10 June 1886
DescriptionJoseph's Tripos work will be over. Alex and John have been there since Friday and Alex has gone to Liverpool. The Tripos papers appear to be very good this year. He expected Knight's election at Clare in spite of what Mollinson had said. Schuster was asked to write a private letter explaining how [the correspondent] came to grief in the Science Tripos. Schuster has offered to write to Fellows about it during a conversation about his prospects at Clare, and he notes the differences between Knight and himself in the fellowship election. If original work counted, he would probably have been elected. There will be two vacancies next year and he should get one. He now has plenty of time for papers.
