Title | Letter from H A [Hendrik Antoon] Lorentz, Leiden, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Lorentz; Hendrik Antoon (1853-1938); Dutch theroetical physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 16 November 1908 |
Description | Lorentz and his wife have accepted the invitation from [Joseph John] Thomson and his wfe to stay at Cambridge before the 30th. He cannot accept Larmor's hospitality, therefore, although he would have been happy to do so. He hopes he and Larmor will have long talks, and he would be delighted to accept the honour of dining with the Master and Fellows of St. John's. He would not wish to interfere with any arrangements that Thomson may have made and leaves things in their hands. He will not reply to the formal card of invitation, hoping that this will not be uncivil. |
