Title | Letter from Thos H [Thomas Howell] Laby, Wellington Club, Wellington, N.Z., to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Laby; Thomas Howell (1880-1946); Australian physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 13 August 1904 |
Description | Congratulating Larmor on his knighthood and his work as secretary of the Royal Society. Two days ago he received 5 1/2 milligrams of radium bromide from Professor [Ernest] Rutherford and this will make teaching a good course possible. He can see his way to continue his gamma ray research. [David Kennedy] Picken is teaching mathematics and [Thomas] Easterfield chemistry. The main difficulty is poor libraries. Most periodicals are available in Sydney, but he comments on the distance involved. |
