Title | Letter from L T [Louis Trenchard] More, University of Cincinnati, Department of Physics, to Joseph Larmor, Cambridge, England |
Creator | More; Louis Trenchard (1870-1944); American physicist and biographer |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 11 January 1909 |
Description | He received Larmor's leter before going East, and made some enquiries among Columbia men. The engineers were tring to get a practical man, but if they try to get a physicist, it would be better for More. He is letting the matter rest and they will have to look up his record themselves. He thinks he shuld not have asked Larmor for a letter of recommendation, but had President Butler asked for it. More has been thinking about the tendency of modern theories to rush into metaphysics and speculations. |
