Description | He was glad to get Larmor's letter of 21 January. He had in mind an experiment such as the one Larmor suggested, but in a slightly different way, using a wire given a high linear speed between two drums, which he illustrates with a sketch. He could make the resistance as great as he liked and avoiding some puzzling areas. He thinks Larmor's may be a better plan, and easier experimentally. He is looking forward to talking about it when Larmor comes. The dinner is now set for 5 April. He hopes the printed version of Larmor's syllabus has reached him and he apologises for [William] Hallock's stumbles over Larmor's rank and honours.
With some notes of Larmor's, and a sketch, in response to Nichols' experimental arrangement. |
