Title | Letter from W D [William Davidson] Niven, Royal Naval College, Greenwich, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Niven; Sir William Davidson (1842-1917); British mathematician |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 16 November 1900 |
Description | Larmor's questions were too difficult for Part 1 and half the class 'would have come to utter grief'. In the next examination they will inaugurate a new system and therefore papers ought to be easy to begin with, the tendency being for questions to get too hard. In Part II there is less reason to be concerned, since it is for honours and classes. Niven has thrown in some easy questions which he hopes Larmor will approve of. He returns the questions not taken which will do for a subsequent Part II. He will be glad to see Larmor at the end of the month. |
