Description | An examination of the twin lines of iron and copper arcs do not reveal any trace of polarization other than the small amount due to the dispersing system. The development of spectrum lines has been described in an article to appear in the Astrophysical Journal and the experimental data is available. The spinning of the light-emitting aggregate of charges or charged particles is sufficient to explain the phenomenon observed, and Nutting expands upon this explanation as a 'twinning effect'. He concludes his reasoning by saying that the separation of the twin components is in quatitative agreement with kinetic theory. |
