Title | Letter from William Ramsay, Beechcroft, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Ramsay; Sir William (1852-1916); British physical chemist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 25 March 1916 |
Description | Ramsay describes his medical condition as a state of lethargy, appreciating Larmor's concern. Eating is difficult because his hard palate is broken up and raw. He can work a little at a time and sends Larmor a paper for the Proceedings, asking for Larmor's opinion. Ramsay writes that he wishes for death, and had long practice with chloroform, but does not like the idea of suicide. His main organs are healthy and he has to 'go up' on Tuesday for x-rays, which he thinks will be of no use, but might show that amelioration by surgery is possible. |
