Title | Letter from John F P [Frederick Peel] Rawlinson, Carlton Club, Pall Mall, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Rawlinson; John Frederick Peel (1860-1926); British barrister and politician |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 2 April 1920 |
Description | He has just received Larmor's two letters. On the Cambridge Police Force, he does not recall any notice being given to the Home Office and he did not receive an official notice of the Resolution of Council. He hopes to be in Cambridge soon and the best thing would be to ask members of the Watch Committee what the matter refers to, and whether action can be taken by Parliament. On the matter of McLeod, Rawlinson told him to get a new clause of amendment approved by the Council so that they could get something ready to put into a bill; McLeod did nothing and now he writes as if nothing had happened. Rawlinson describes putting down an amendment, and thinking that if McLeod could get a clause drafted and approved by Council, they could move it at the Report stage. He wonders if an effort should be made to enable the University to charge women for being registered, as it was never intended they should not pay a guinea. He has written to Shipley about McLeod. |
