Title | Letter from William Ridgeway, Flendyshe, Fen Ditton, Cambridge, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Ridgeway; Sir William (1853-1926); Irish classical scholar |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 8 June 1922 |
Description | Larmor said to him that his friend Darby Scully would never speak to him again once he had seen Ridgeway's letter to 'The Times'. He received a long letter from him that morning, which Ridgeway quotes from, indicating Scully's agreement. He will tell Larmor about it in more detail when they meet, but he has little heart after the loss of [William Halse Rivers] Rivers. He wonders how Scully dared to write about all he has done, supposing that as a Catholic and less suspect. Nevertheless, he has had sheep and horses driven off one of his farms. |
