Title | Letter from E [Ernest] Rutherford, Physical Laboratories, The University, Manchester, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Rutherford; Ernest; Baron Rutherford of Nelson (1871-1937); New Zealand physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 11 January 1909 |
Description | He was glad to hear from [Horace] Lamb that the Royal Society was willing to recommend Rutherford and J.J. [Joseph John] Thomson as Government delegates to the Radiology Congress, and to form a committee to assist at the Congress. The Congress Secretary was anxious to know the state of affairs. Rutherford thanks Larmor for copies of his papers, singling out the Bakerian Lecture as especially interesting. [Bertram Borden] Boltwood has been active in getting the Royal Society's actinium residues into shape and they are devising purification methods. He asks if the Royal Society's barrel of radiological residues is still in their possession, and he would like to have it to see what might be done with it. |
