Title | Letter from J H [John Henry] Poynting, 10 Ampton Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, to [Joseph] Larmor |
Creator | Poynting; John Henry (1852-1914); British physicist |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 7 June 1911 |
Description | In the brief communications of the Société Française de Physique, E.M. [Ernest-Maurice] Lémeray attacked Larmor's method of determining the pressure of radiation. Lémeray used Lorentz transformation, and Poynting supposes the full paper will appear. He declares that he will go through life without using Lorentz's transformation, but if the author is wrong, Larmor would be the right person to correct him. If he is right then Poynting would like to know the staus of his footnote in 'Pressure of Light'. He spoke to [Arthur] Schuster before the Gassiot Committee meeting and gathered he was disappointed at not receiving thanks for his work for the Fee Reduction Committee. |
