| Description | Larmor may have seen that Pearson had resigned from his post at Gresham College. He had hoped to give a last course of lectures but he doubts if he will have time to prepare. He does not know if Larmor will be a candidate, although he hopes so. He asks if Larmor would take the May course, or at least two of the lectures. The audience is intelligent and interested, and the subject would be left to Larmor. It would need to be connected with geometry, and Larmor may wish to talk about aether, the application of curves to political economy, or anything suitable to the 'man in the street', such as the mathematics of gambling. Pearson notes the honorarium and thinks that Larmor would gain a fair impression of what Gresham was like. |
