Title | Letter from Margaret J M [Johnstone Marshall] Ramsay, Beechcroft, Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, to Sir Joseph [Larmor] |
Creator | Ramsay [née Buchanan]; Margaret Johnstone Marshall (1855-1936); British |
Recipient | Larmor; Sir Joseph (1857-1942); Irish theoretical physicist |
Date | 16 April 1916 |
Description | Dr. Collie has forwarded Larmor's letter to him of 13 April, making a suggestion based upon the idea that [John Norman] Collie had charge of the paper read on the 6th. When he wrote about reading it at the Royal Society, the paper was sent to the Secretaries with a letter asking that it might be read by Larmor. After receiving the meeting notice and speaking to Professor [Arthur Mason] Worthington by telephone, the latter attended the meeting but Larmor was not there, and the paper on atomic models was explained briefly by Professor [Arthur] Schuster. Her husband [Sir William Ramsay] thinks there may have been a mistake, and as the paper must still be in the hands of the Secretaries, she wonders if Larmor could get it to make the addition or explanation he suggested. There is little change in her husband's condition, seemingly a little weaker day by day. |
