Description | Original coloured digrams in watercolour(?), prepapred for Pole's paper 'On Colour Blindness' published in 'The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', volume 149, 1859, as follows: 13 scales for different colours, each scale ranging from white 'blanc' to the most saturated form of the colour. One colour scale on each of 13 sheets. Printed copy of 'Cercle Chromatique de Mr Chevreul, les couleurs franches'. Two semi-circles, one large (folded), one small, each divided into different coloured segments of white, red, yellow and blue and further segmented by digaonal lines in black. Hand-drawn diagram in black ink comparing the appearance of the colours on Chevreul's colour circle for the normal-eyed and the colour blind.
The original envelope containig these digrams has been retained. It notes that they should be kept away from the light when not in use to avoid fading. |
