TitleDraft letter from Michael Foster, Royal Society, Burlington House, to the secretary of the Treasury
Date19 March 1883
DescriptionIs directed by the Challenger Committee of the Royal Society to transmit a copy of the annual statement which Mr Murray laid before the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury. Informs that the committee has examined the details on which the statement is based and cannot but recognize that Mr Murray is making every effort both to reduce the expenditure and to accelerate the completion of the publication of the Memoirs. The committee approves Mr Murray's suggestion that the numbers of copies printed of the General Narrative should exceed that of the other sections, as this volume will appeal to a much larger class of readers.
