Title | Letter from Walter Bowman, to Martin Folkes, Queen’s Square, Ormond Street |
Creator | Bowman; Walter (- 1782); antiquary |
Recipient | Folkes; Martin (1690 - 1754); antiquary and natural philosopher |
Date | 26 April 1743 |
Description | He is almost ashamed to ask a favour of Folkes, but the fame of his polypus's [hydra] has excited the curiosity of Lord Conway and his brother. They would like to pay Folkes a visit tomorrow, at twelve o'clock if that would be convenient. He asks Folkes to nominate an alternative date by the bearer if it is not. On delivering the last Philosophical Transaction to Mr. [Smart] Lethieullier for Father [Diego de] Revillas, he found Lethieullier with a lately arrived paper on a curious subject. If it has not been forwarded to Folkes for reading on Thursday, Folkes had better send for it. |
