| Description | He received his correspondent's letter yesterday, notifying him of the death of Archdeacon [Ralph] Brideoak [of Winchester]. He had the same from Dr. Geekie. Folkes is sorry to hear of it and it will probably involve them both in many solicitations and difficulties. Folkes will not engage his interest to any replacement until his correspondent comes to London, so that they may act in concert. He thinks that his correspondent's proposal is impossible and would result in great censure, but promises secrecy. They have been left in Trust and it would be out if the question to make a decision until they know how everything stands. He hopes to be excused for plain speaking, because they have acted honourably, and he does not wish to tarnish that credit. He gives his respects to the Dean, Mrs. Lynch and their family.
