TitleLetter from E C Richardson to J B S Haldane
Date25/03/1934
Description'I quite agree that questions connected with inter-racial marriages are highly controversial and - especially if my own son or daughter were involved! - I should experience a difficulty in coming to a decision on the specific case which you propound.

I also agree that to bring forward any resolution which might tend to split the Society would be very unwise.

I suggest, however, that it might be possible to draft a resolution dealing with the purely scientific aspect of the definition of a Jew given by Kube. This is typical of a great deal of the nonsense one hears talked about heredity both in Germany and in this country.

Perhaps you may think that something on the enclosed lines might command general assent? If not, please trouble no more about it. I shall respect your opinion and let the matter drop.'
